The Pigeon Tweets

by Boyd Norwood

The Pigeon TweetsMy kids love The Pigeon and other Mo Willems’ books.

The Pigeon has a special personality which is why I was glad to find that he has a twitter account called @The_Pigeon.

The Pigeon is a very clever creature. He does a “Photo Phriday” tweet every Friday. He also has a different way of thinking about things so I compiled a list of 22 of my favorite Pigeon tweets over the last year for your enjoyment.

And by the way, I keep saying “he” because I verified that The Pigeon is a male here.

Whenever I go to a sporting event I like to support my team by chanting, “We’re hashtag one!” repeatedly.

Reasons I will NOT be joining the @cavs: 1. I have no idea what that means. 2. See 1.

Do Your Ears Hang Low Craft and Activity

by Shilah Anderson

do yo ur ears hang pic3

Kids and music go hand in hand but sometimes it’s fun to get a little bit more creative with songs and daily activities. We have some great sing-alongs, nursery rhymes, and bedtime lullabies that your kids will absolutely love, but try doing an activity with one of these songs and just see how much fun they can have with it.

It’s the middle of the day, you are exhausted and it’s almost nap time. You just need to stretch them out another 45 mins or so. We are sure this super easy activity will do the trick!

Do Your Ears Hang Low Craft

What you will need:

Construction paper, poster-board, markers or crayons, scissors, string or yarn, and fun colored masking tape.

what you will need string

How to Create:

1. Use the poster board to cut out several different patterns for the children of long floppy ears (EX: elephant ears, dog ears, rabbits, etc.) Make them long enough to at least touch their shoulders so they can have fun swaying them back and forth. Also, make them wide enough at the top to cover their ears completely.

Pattern

2. Let the children choose which pattern they like, have them pick a color of construction paper and help them trace two ears. If they are familiar with scissors, let them go at attempting to cut them out themselves, otherwise, give them a hand to make these ears cute as can be.

cutting pattern

3. Color time! Let them color the ears however they would like. With spots, with hair, with different or wild colors, whatever, just be sure they are making these their own.

4. Cut about a two inch long string for each individual ear. Tape it loosely, on both ends, horizontally to the top, back side of the ear so that it will hook comfortably over the top of the childrens’ ears while still able to sway for the activity.

Do Your Ears Hang Low Activity

What you will need:

Some space to move and jump around, ability to play Boysenberrykids fun “Do Your Ears Hang Low” sing along song (found below, or just make sure you know the song and can teach them), ability to sit back and laugh as your kiddos march around in creative expression of the animal they are portraying through their very own low hanging ears.

Activities like these are not only great time passers, but they have an added bonus of developing motor skills, hand-eye coordination and my favorite, creative expression.

Toddler Rules of Possession

by Boysenberry Kids

Toddler-Rules-of-Possession

This is so true!

  1. If I like it, it’s mine.
  2. If it’s in my hand, it’s mine.
  3. If I can take it from you, it’s mine.
  4. If I had it a little while ago, it’s mine.
  5. If it’s mine, it must NEVER appear to be yours in any way.
  6. If I’m doing or building something, all pieces are mine.
  7. If it looks just like mine, it is mine.
  8. If I saw it first, it’s mine.
  9. If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.
  10. If it’s broken, it’s yours.
